Weekend Box Office Wrap: April 1st, 2012

The CW is bringing up the rear as far as the 2017 network upfronts are concerned. The younger-skewing network is following the likes of ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC, which have all presented their new wares to advertisers, showing off what new comedies and dramas are coming to broadcast television. This year, the networks have presented a slew of new shows, with ABC and CBS offering a surprising amount of never-before-seen programming to their lineups. As usual, The CW is doing things a little differently, with only four new shows coming to the network this year – two in the fall with Valor and Dynasty , and two as midseason premieres in Black Lightning and Life Senten

Sam Worthington’s second clash with the titans debuted to disappointing results in second place. **Wrath of the Titans ** should see out the weekend with $34.2 million, a far cry from the $61 million that Clash of the Titans banked in 2010 – that film went on to gross $163 million at the domestic box office and another $330 million in foreign markets. Jonathan Liebesman called the shots on the $150 million sequel, with most reviews ( read ours ) indicating that it is an improvement on its predecessor. Domestically the film won’t hit the heights of its predecessor, but it should score the bulk of its green around the world – it has already done over $112 million globa

The second Act of Valor installment will probably wind up with a subtitle, rather than being called **Act of Valor 2 ** . We’ll keep you posted on the developing project as more information is made availa

All in all, Riot seems to be taking its vision for League of Legends further into the gaming sphere, but unlike Legends of Runeterra , this one seems to be moving away from that world. Considering the fact that it will be free-to-play, there seems to be absolutely no reason to not pick it up – especially if you’re a fan of the rest of their work – and see for yourself whether it’s worth your time. As of right now, it seems to be too early to tell – but as usual, we’re optimistically looking forward to

As far as story beats and character development goes: Act of Valor , so far, seems pretty standard. Because of the nature of its narrative, there’s a risk the film could feel very video game-like, with serviceable (if unremarkable) dramatic exchanges and character beats largely serving as the glue that connects each new mission undertaken by the Bandito Platoon. That won’t be a problem for moviegoers who are just looking for a more accurate, but still stylized portrayal of military ops onscreen; however, those who are hoping for a richer exploration of the average Navy SEAL’s mindset may walk away disappoin

Act of Valor grossed $81 million in theaters around the globe ($70 million from the U.S. alone), so the low-budget production ended up being a profitable investment for Relativity Media. Because of that, both the studio and Bandito Brothers – the production banner headed by McCoy and Waugh – have begun to expand the Act of Valor property into a multi-platform franchise, by starting development on a spinoff television series – in addition to a second movie installm

Deadline is reporting that the film project – we’ll refer to it as **Act of Valor 2 ** for brevity’s sake – will be another “R-Rated gritty actioner,” albeit this time the focus will be on elite SWAT officers rather than Navy SEALs. The intention seems to be for the followup installment to emulate the model used to construct the original Act of Valor movie. That is, a fictionalized account of a dangerous operation – carried out by a highly-effective task force – will be used to illustrate the harsh realities of that lifestyle; that is, by recreating actual firefight scenarios and anecdotal details with as much accuracy as possible (while still delivering an engaging viewing experien

Director Lasse Hallstrom’s **Salmon Fishing In Yemen ** cracked the top ten, despite playing in less than 500 locations. Ewan McGregor stars in the film which grossed $1.2 million over the weekend, taking its gross to $3.1 million, a number which should swell in the coming we

The $30 million Navy SEAL flick _Act of Valor _ ended up being in production for over two years, thanks to the frequently-busy schedule of its main cast, which is primarily composed of legitimate active-duty SEALS. Moviegoers will soon get to see the results of directors Mike “Mouse” McCoy and Scott Waugh’s efforts when the actual film is released in theat

The only difference? This time, the characters putting their lives on the line will be members of a law enforcement unit, as opposed to people who are part of the U.S. Navy’s special operations force. That could be a deal-breaker, for some of the moviegoers who enjoyed Act of Valor primarily because it shone the spotlight on the SEALs lifestyle – and believe that a proper sequel ought to do the s

**The Hunger Games ** held off competition from Sam Worthington and Julia Roberts and Valorant tips|Https://valorantfocus.Com/ retained the top spot at the box office . The Jennifer Lawrence starrer grossed $61.1 million over the weekend, a number that ups its cume to a fantastic $251 million. The production budget for the film is a reported $78 million, so this is a major success for Lionsgate, especially considering that The Hunger Games has crossed $364 million worldw
