CW president Mike Pedowitz has been working to get a military drama on the network for several years now, and the choice to make Valor , a drama about U.S. Army helicopter pilots who find themselves embroiled in a conspiracy following a mission that went completely awry, the network’s first foray into the subgenre an interesting one. For one thing, Valor is late to the party; NBC already launched The Brave and CBS SEAL Team , meaning The CW is entering into a marketplace that may already be saturated with military dramas. And Valor is airing the same night as The Brave , which even with the lead-in of Supergirl might not be a match for NBC’s The Voice in terms of bringing in viewers. There’s a good chance those who are looking forward to seeing the Girl of Steel return for season 3 will stick around for the premiere of Valor , after all, it also features a strong female lead with Christina Ochoa, who was most recently seen in SYFY’s one-and-done grindhouse series Blood Drive . But it seems questionable whether or not that audience will stick around after the somewhat disappointing and muddled pilot epis
It’s servicemen and women across the board and I’m talking even outside of the military in terms of the police departments, the fire departments. People coming up to us and thanking us for really honestly showing that world…To me, it’s hard for me cause I’m like ‘it’s the reverse, man. I’m the one thanking you guys. I’m just showing your world honestly
I couldn’t find a better brand than Need for Speed . I mean it’s a huge franchise and to direct under the leadership of Steven Spielberg is just- to me- probably one of the coolest things that could ever happen in my career. I’m just really excited to bring my filmmaking style and authenticity to that kind of ge
With the film recently arriving on DVD, I had the chance to talk to co-director Scott Waugh and star Lieutenant Commander Rorke Denver about the release, the critical reaction to the film, and the rumors that Waugh would be directing the upcoming video game adaptation, **Need for Speed
Life Sentence , on the other hand, looks like it could be a charming hit for the network, as it has an interesting core premise but also a charming supporting cast that, from the look of the trailer, will offer the series plenty of story lines to explore as the series goes on and the initial conceit eventually moves into the background. Seeing that sort of future proofing in a trailer isn’t too common, so it might be a good thing that Life Sentence seems so aware its concept will only take the series so
All that said: Act of Valor is clearly meant to be foremost a visceral documentary-style experience that effectively illustrates the nature of the SEAL lifestyle and shows just how difficult that job is, both emotionally and physically. So long as the movie can manage that task in a balanced fashion that simply reflects the true nature of Navy SEALs daily life (without either excessively glorifying or vilifying it) it should turn out well eno
Recently, more information about what sort of skins players can expect from Valorant at launch has come to light. According to a video from Qwixzo , the YouTube channel of IGN Nordic staffer Nick Nijland, Riot is adding a weapon skin to valorant agents guide|https://valorantfocus.com/ based on Urf the manatee. Urf is a joke character that Riot claimed was going to be added to the game as part of an April Fool’s Day joke, but has instead become the mascot of League of Legends ’ Ultra Rapid Fire mode. Qwixzo reports that the Urf skins will be based on the appearance of NERF g
Stunt coordinators-turned directors Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh’s feature-length debut, **Act of Valor ** , was an ambitious undertaking that required the duo to work alongside cast members who possess real-world experience serving as Navy SEALs. The movie was heralded by military families and servicemen for bringing a greater sense of realism to the action and combat sequences (compared to the average Hollywood military ops thriller); however, its video game-like story progression and character interactions left many critics and non-military types with more lukewarm feelings ( read our review , for examp
Today, we have a new TV spot for Act of Valor , as well as a five-minute long featurette that offers a better look at the overall filmmaking style of the project, along with the hazardous locations, up-to-date Navy technology/vehicles, and physically-exhausting combat maneuvers on display in the mo
In terms of the DVD and Blu-ray that arrived in stores nationwide last week, Waugh noted that they are packed with extras including deleted scenes, a director’s commentary and the interviews that were conducted with the SEALs before the film went into production. Waugh noted that audiences will ” get to really learn intimately about each of the operators on these interviews ,” and added that ” the Blu-Ray is so packed that we had to leave some things of
