How to Use WPS Office’s Translation Feature

WPS Office comes with a powerful integrated translation tool that enables users to translate text seamlessly across documents, spreadsheets, and presentations without leaving the application. Perfect for anyone managing content in multiple languages.

To begin, open the document you want to translate in WPS Office. Then, highlight the portion of text you want to convert—any snippet from a brief note to a long section. Locate the Review option in the ribbon at the top. There, you’ll see the Translate button. Tap on it to display the translation window.

A translation sidebar appears on the right, presenting the original phrase with a menu to pick the destination language. It offers translation across a broad spectrum such as Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, Japanese, Arabic, and numerous others. Once selected, the system renders the translated version. You can then review the output and choose to insert it directly. Use the Insert button to replace the source with the translation. Alternatively, copy the translation to your clipboard for pasting elsewhere.

If you need to convert the whole document, choose the Translate Document function. It preserves fonts, spacing, tables, and design elements during translation. The system uses advanced algorithms, yet context-dependent expressions or technical terms can occasionally be misinterpreted. When working with professional or specialized materials, manually check and polish the translation.

You can customize default translation settings for consistency. Access Options > Language Settings. Then, select your default source and target languages. This customization makes translations faster and more reliable throughout your workflow.

Basic translations for common phrases work offline, More complex or uncommon translations need cloud access. The online translation service provides richer, more accurate results.

Don’t attempt to translate dense paragraphs in a single step. Smaller sections yield more precise and natural-sounding output. Context affects interpretation, so results aren’t always literal. Use additional tools or human input to validate nuanced translations.
