To add and modify mathematical expressions in WPS Writer, start with your document open and position the insertion point precisely where you want the equation to appear. Access the Insert ribbon on the ribbon at the top of the screen. Within this tab, locate the Equation button, which is typically represented by a pi symbol. Clicking this button displays a quick menu offering a selection of common equations such as the quadratic equation, the Pythagorean theorem, and the expansion of (a + b)ⁿ. Choose one of these preformatted equations if it matches your needs, or select the Insert New Equation option to start from scratch.
Once you’ve inserted a new equation, the Equation ribbon will appear on the ribbon. You’ll gain access to a comprehensive set of mathematical symbols and structures, including rational expressions, radicals, integrals, summations, Greek letters, and matrix arrays. To build your equation, pick a math component from the Structures group. For example, to create a fraction, select the Fraction option and pick your preferred layout, then fill in the upper and lower fields in the designated boxes. Use the arrow keys or mouse to navigate between placeholders and enter the correct values or variables.
Editing an existing equation is effortless. Click within the formula to activate the Equation Tools tab. You can then alter specific elements by clicking on a symbol and substituting with updated values. If you need to insert additional symbols not immediately visible, open the Symbols menu to access a comprehensive set of mathematical glyphs. For complex expressions, you may also use LaTeX inputs directly into the equation box, as WPS Writer accepts simple LaTeX commands for faster equation creation.
If you make a mistake, use the Undo button or delete characters as you would in regular text. To adjust the size or alignment of the equation, right-click the equation and open Object Properties. Here, you can define text wrapping options, modify the typography, wps下载 or customize appearance settings. Equations can also be moved freely by dragging them with the mouse or applying text alignment controls.
It is important to note that equations inserted in WPS Writer are handled as embedded elements, meaning they act like pictures for layout purposes but preserve editable content. This allows you to transfer equations from one document to another while keeping all styles and structure. Additionally, if you frequently use certain equations, create custom Quick Parts for quick reuse later.
WPS Writer supports native Word equation standards, so documents containing equations can be opened and edited without loss of structure. Always double-check your equations after inserting or editing to ensure accuracy, especially when dealing with nested fractions or extended formulas. With practice, inserting and editing equations in WPS Writer becomes a routine task for technical documentation.
