Following protagonist Jin Sakai, Tsushimagame.com one of the only remaining samurai out for revenge following the Mongol invasion of his homeland, Ghost of Tsushima is a dramatic story loosely based on the real-world events of the Mongol invasion of Tsushima Island in 1274. In an attempt to thwart the oncoming invasion, Jin’s comrades are overwhelmed and massacred, leaving Jin to haunt the Mongol invaders who took everything from
There’s also the fact that Ghost of Tsushima quite literally looks like it could be one of the prettiest games ever made. Speaking of that gameplay demo from 2018, I’m hard-pressed to actually believe that what we were shown was running on a PS4 Pro. Seriously, how is that even possible? The level of detail and the high-fidelity visuals that we were shown look like they should only be possible on a PC, or maybe an Xbox One X. If these kinds of graphics are possible on even the weakest “premium” platform around, then that’s pretty incredible. Games like this are why I invested in a 4K TV and a PS4 Pro in the first place and I’m hoping Ghost of Tsushima’s finalized iteration will look just as stunning as what we’ve been shown thus
This is where the success came to an end. After an initial surge inland, a senior commander had been injured and eventually died. It’s unknown why the Mongol didn’t capitalize on their success at this point. Instead, the army hung back near their ships with some reports indicating that many of the ship captains were concerned about a larger Japanese force showing up. Others speculate low supplies or the death of the senior commander having an impact on the campaign. Ultimately, the Mongols decided to retreat back north to Korea under the blanket of night. This proved to be unwise as they encountered severe storms which reportedly sunk 200 ships with 13,500 men l
While many video game enthusiasts will likely have their hands full for the immediate future with titles like Resident Evil 3 , Doom Eternal , and Final Fantasy VII Remake , it’s easy to look at games on the horizon and wonder when they’ll see the light of day. There are even persistent rumors that next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X might not hit their 2020 launch windows, or that, if they do, they will be in exceedingly short sup
Nobody knows when The Last of Us Part II will finally release, and if they do, they’re not telling. The next largest Sony first-party title after Naughty Dog’s sequel is likely Ghost of Tsushima , the new IP from developer Sucker Punch, a studio best known for working on games like Sly Cooper and Infamous . The Japan-set fallen samurai revenge thriller looks to be shaping up to be one of 2020’s breakout hits, but now fans are concerned that Sony might delay the highly-anticipated title from its previously-scheduled June 26 street date, to the point where fears about the game’s release status have caused Ghost to become a trending topic on Twitter, as recently reported by Game Ra
In terms of Ghost of Tsushima , Khotun Khan is a cunning and ruthless general of the Mongol Empire. He leads and commands a massive fleet of ships and soldiers in the first invasion of Japan’s Tsushima Island. To achieve total victory, Khotun relies on his knowledge of the Samurai way to ultimately destroy them. The Great Khan is voiced by Patrick Gallag
Close-up combat is shown off in the following shots in the trailer. Jin is not only capable of stealthy assassinations and up-close sword techniques, but he is also equipped with stun projectiles and can use his bow in most situations. Before the flashback ends, in the middle of a battle, Jin jumps off of his horse mid-gallop and strikes an opponent with his sword. This seems likely to be another mechanic that is going to be featured in the game. Horseplay and horse combat, in general, seems to be a key feature in Ghost of Tsushi
Aside from The Last of Us Part II , which will release on May 29th, Ghost of Tsushima is likely to be one of the last major PlayStation 4 exclusives, with the release of the PlayStation 5 set for the end of 2020. Following Sony’s announcement that they would forego E3 yet again, and with no State of Play presentations currently announced, fans had begun to wonder when a release date or more information on the action-packed samurai title would emerge. Thankfully, today’s new Ghost of Tsushima trailer gave those players exactly what they had been waiting
The trailer begins with a confrontation between a travelling Samurai and the man himself, The Ghost of Tsushima. Although it was ambiguous before as to whether or not The Ghost was the playable character, it now seems confirmed that he is. The narration throughout the trailer tells us that The Ghost is a mythic figure, one who many thought left for dead in a battle years ago. But The Ghost survived what many believed to be a terminal infliction and is now dedicated to avenging himself. If there was any doubt as to the graphical fidelity of Ghost of Tsushima , rest assured that should be squelched now. Last year, Sony Boss Shuhei Yoshida remarked on the impressive graphics in the game . It’s no easy task for developers to keep visual fidelity high throughout development, especially when adding so many new features, textures and art assets into the g
