E3 2018: Ghost of Tsushima is a Stunning Breakthrough for Sucker Punch

PlayStation’s focus on a handful of games for E3 2018 was well-known weeks before they held their press conference. With rumors swirling about a potential PlayStation 5 on the horizon, it was apparent that the platform holder would focus on its current crop of announced titles. The Last of Us Part II and Spider-Man are proven winners, and Death Standing continued to intrigue. Ghost of Tsushima, however, was perhaps the most interesting title. A far cry from Sucker Punch’s previous work, Ghost of Tsushima made its presence known at the show and stunned in its debut.

A magical battle royale game called Spellbreak was also shown off during State of Play. It seems to be very exhilarating, though it remains to be seen if Proletariat’s battle royale will be able to break into the crowded genre. We will be able to play Spellbreak’s Closed Beta in Spring 2

It’s one of the most visually impressive titles on the PlayStation 4 and looks even better on the console’s successor. Looks aren’t the only thing the game has going for it, though, with a fantastic story, some well-thought-out side quests, and an intuitive combat system all adding to the experience. There’s plenty of challenge to be found here, although the game’s difficulty settings make it just as suitable for those looking to kick back and partake in an engaging and often moving advent

Speaking of Ubisoft, their long-awaited sci-fi sequel is also taking a break from the E3 stage, after returning from hibernation at E3 2017 and showing a second cinematic trailer the following year. Fans of the title, however, still have a glimpse of Beyond Good and Evil 2 to look forward to this month, as their fifth Space Monkey Report livestream takes place on June 5 at 9 AM PT, with the previous livestream featuring a lengthy pre-alpha demo.

The second of EA’s promised upcoming releases is “a new title in our Plants vs. Zombies shooter franchise,” which seemingly indicates a third Garden Warfare set to launch sometime in the next nine months. While there has not been an official confirmation that this title will not be shown at E3 2019 in some capacity, EA’s abandoning of their usual press conference and the title’s lack of inclusion in the EA Play streaming schedule all but establishes that their latest class-based shooter is not ready for primetime just yet.

When Watch Dogs Legion was unveiled and it was revealed that there were several playable characters such as the granny assassin, it was a big deal for the franchise. Watch Dogs 2 wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but this showed real promise. Shortly after Sony’s delays were revealed, Ubisoft followed up with several delays of its own, including for Watch Dogs Legion . Ubisoft essentially explained that it was due to recent under-performances such as Breakpoint , which could have been caused by too many games releasing too closely together, so it chose to delay three games into the next fiscal y

Going in, I was optimistic. However, after they showed me extended footage of what was shown on Microsoft’s stage a few days prior, I was sold. If anything, Dying Light 2 is incredibly ambitious and if it successfully pulls off what it is trying to accomplish, like its dynamic open-world and fluid parkour combat, I have no doubt this will be a great title when it eventually relea

Ghost of Tsushima ‘s delay is a little different in that its it is entirely dependent upon The Last of Us 2’ s. Reports indicate that, because of the aforementioned delay, Ghost of Tsushima was delayed further into 2020 to give the two big PS4 exclusives some breathing room, as it was supposed to launch sometime in early 2020 after TLOU 2 . It’s also worth mentioning that it did not yet have an official release date, so this may not be a traditional delay. There’s a possibility that the reports are wrong, but there’s a high chance that they aren’t. As of right now, Ghost of Tsushima does not have an official release d

Authenticity to the period and setting were one of Sucker Punch’s key objectives when building visit the up coming post game. The team traveled to Japan to study the environment and architecture of the time and took that knowledge to develop a stunning game. From the thick forests to the lush moss growing on rocks to the fields of wheat that blow in the wind, Ghost of Tsushima is a gorgeous game to behold. To add additional authenticity to the world, the demo was played with Japanese audio, an option that will be available players at launch.

Delays are inevitable in the gaming industry. While this sometimes upsets players, it’s a necessary reality because a lot of work goes into game development, and it forces the choice of a compromised release or a slightly disappointing delay. October 24 is an interesting day, however, as not only 1 or 2 major games received delays, but 5 of the most anticipated games of 2020 have been pushed back, including The Last of Us

While roaming the halls of the L.A. Convention Center, there was one game everyone was talking about: Cyberpunk 2077 . The trailer on Microsoft’s stage gave just a small glimpse of what players can look forward to. Those who went behind closed doors and saw the 50 minutes of gameplay know that CD Projekt Red’s next game may have the most realized sci-fi world in a video g
