Black Myth: Wukong Hands-On Preview – Carry a Big Stick

The first point that every single person I spoke to was keen to make was just how good Black Myth: Wukong looked. Superlatives such as “amazing”, “brilliant” and “super beautiful” were thrown around, and not a single person I spoke to failed to mention the game’s visuals. It’s also pretty clear that Black Myth: Wukong is going to live up to the Soulslike difficulty stand

Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG from Chinese developer Game Science Studio, and it’s one of the most anticipated games of 2024. The game draws inspiration from the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West , focusing on the legendary Monkey King, Sun Wukong. This August, players will finally have the chance to dive into this rich, mythological world. The title promises a unique blend of action, adventure, and storytelling , with stunning visuals and challenging mechanics that have been highlighted in several trailers and gameplay de

The title has attracted a lot of attention due to its impressive use of Unreal Engine 5 , which delivers realistic environments and smooth combat animations. Players will encounter various mythical creatures and bosses, each requiring different strategies to defeat them. The combat system is designed to be deep and engaging , featuring a mix of melee, magic, and transformation abilities that allow Wukong to change into different creatures to gain advantages in battle. Game Science Studio has heavily invested in capturing the essence of Chinese folklore and mythology, making Black Myth: Wukong a must-play title for fans of action RPGs and mythological tales al

As to be expected from a game in the Souls tradition, the difficulty wasn’t for everybody, and after two hours of queuing, one member of the public told me that while they could appreciate what the game was trying to do, they weren’t a fan of the difficulty. Another person revealed to me that although they loved the game, they couldn’t beat the first boss as “it was a little bit too tou

There’s no block or parry in Black Myth Wukong Tips|https://blackmythwukongfans.com/ Myth, which might be the thing that separates it the most from the rest of the Souslike genre. You have a staff spin ability that allows you to deflect ranged attacks, but when you’re facing off against an enemy, dodging is your main method of avoiding damage.

August 2024 will feature a steady stream of game releases, with August 8 and 29 standing out as particularly busy days . Wuchang: Fallen Feathers tells the story of Bai Wuchang, a warrior with no memory who is battling a mysterious illness known as Ornithropy. Sekiro ‘s protagonist, Wolf , is also prone to contracting an illness known as Dragonrot. However, while Ornithropy is slowly morphing Wuchang into a monster, on the flip side, it is also granting her access to immense power. The game is described as non-linear but stops short of calling itself an open-world game, so it’s likely it will adopt a similar semi-open-world structure that is used in both Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice , and the upcoming Black Myth: Wuko

Black Myth: Wukong ‘s main differentiator appears to be the sheer power of its protagonist, the Monkey King, and his unique suite of abilities, including being able to morph into various other forms. This, along with some of the weapon skills that have already been displayed, appears to give Black Myth a unique identity among the other Soulslikes. On the surface, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers appears to have much more in common with Sekiro , which, if executed correctly, shouldn’t harm its chances of success at

Sun Wukong’s staff is his main offensive weapon, capable of flashy combos with a press of the light attack button. Holding the heavy attack button can charge up a stronger attack that, in its basic form, has Wukong slamming the staff down on an enemy. As players mix up their combos and charged attacks, they will fill up a focus meter and eventually earn a focus point. These points can be spent on an even more damaging attack that can be timed at the end of a combo as a pseudo-finis

After years of mystery, Black Myth: Wukong is really taking shape. Both the public, and fellow critics, have had almost universal praise for the game that’s set to release in 2024 . Now if I could just get my hands on i

The best compliment that can be paid after any hands-on preview is that it leaves you wanting more. Black Myth: Wukong did that in all the best ways. I wanted to see more of the evocative world that lay ahead, improve my skills and challenge some of the optional bosses I saw but quickly trounced me, and to experience how the combat evolves over time. Just this small taste was enough to prove that the initial promise of Black Myth: Wukong – a beautiful game with impressive combat – was not a trick. This is the real deal and it’s easily one of my most anticipated games releasing in the latter part of 20
